Official introduction of provincial disability officers and committees

The Disability Desk and the Vanuatu Skills Partnership made a joint trip to the province's three major centers last month.

The purpose of the visit to Tafea, Sanma and Penama provinces was to introduce the newly recruited provincial disability officers.

Vanuatu Skills Partnership (VSP) is the main funder of the vacant position within the MJCS structure under the Human Rights Unit, and also provides financial and technical support to the Unit in the implementation of activities consistent with the Government Sector Support and Strengthening Plan.

The Disability Desk of the Ministry of Justice and Community Services would like to thank the Vanuatu Skills Partnership for its very good cooperation and financial support.

The Vanuatu Skills Partnership has also discussed a summary work plan with the newly recruited officers as this is an opportunity to sit down with the officer to discuss the importance of the partnership, implement the work plan together and achieve something together at the end of the implementation period.

The Disability Desk works very well with VSP and they share the work plan. There will also be visits to other provinces to introduce and deepen the partnership.

It is a good opportunity for the two agencies to share their knowledge on how they are working closely together at the top level through strategies and work plans to best address disability issues in Vanuatu.

The government has the National Sustainable Development Plan, the "People’s Plan", and any engagement or work must be in line with the three main pillars of the NSDP.
