The Ministry of Justice and Community Services completed the third Sector Strategy Development Workshop CD this week.
All sectors of the MJCS participated in the one and a half day workshop, which was co-hosted by the Ministry and the Vanuatu Australia Policing Justice Program (VAPJP).
The Acting Director General of the Ministry of Justice and Community Services, Pacco Siri, officially opened the workshop.
He acknowledged all representatives of the sector who played an important role in the development of the capacity building strategy.
He also praised the continuous and tremendous support of VAPJP for technical assistance through technical advisors and budgetary support to advance this important task.
ADG Siri also commended VIPAM for the continuous capacity building support and training opportunities provided to MJCS and the sectors.
The development of the capacity building strategy has been a collaborative process and effort with a broad-based, cross-sector working group that has supported the process by sharing knowledge and information, which promotes ownership and accountability.
The strategy will be aligned with the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) and the National Human Resources Development Plan (NHRDP).
Mr. Siri emphasized that our goal is to develop a strategy that is consistent with the national plans while being concise, simple, user-friendly, and fit for purpose for our country.
The sector has grown in many ways; agency structures have expanded, and the issues we deal with continue to increase and change. Therefore, as a sector, we must continue to build our staff capacity so that we can continue to provide timely, appropriate, and quality services to our clients.
He concluded by adding that the results of the workshop deliberations will provide a draft framework for the final Sector Strategy Capacity Development Workshop.
