    Vanuatu is set to present its 4th UPR Report to the Human Rights Council.

    PORT VILA, APRIL 30: A delegation of nine distinguished individuals embarked on a journey to attend the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) at the United Nations General Council in Geneva, Switzerland last Friday.

    The delegation, led by the esteemed Minister of Justice and Community Services, John Amos Nalau, has undertaken this important visit to present Vanuatu's fourth report on the Periodic Review before the High Commissioner of the Human Rights Council.

    Albert Nalpini, National Human Rights Coordinator explained that Vanuatu's report presentation is a significant moment at the 46th Human Rights Council, which was held from April 28th to May 10th.

    He said the Honourable John Amos Nalau, Minister of Human Rights, will be presenting Vanuatu’s report at the United Nations Human Rights Council for the first time.

    During the presentation, Vanuatu will showcase its best practices for the 99 recommendations mentioned in the third UPR report of 2019.

    Mr Nalpini added that we are proud to inform that Vanuatu has ratified five out of the nine core Human Rights conventions, including the UN Convention against Corruption.

    The Government of Vanuatu's representatives, consisting of three members from the Human Rights office, three from the Cabinet, two from Foreign Affairs, and two from the Prime Minister's office, will be present during the report presentation.

    Vanuatu extend his gratitude to the 47 Human Rights experts from around the world who will be attending the Human Rights Council to listen and question each country after presenting their reports.

    The delegation believes this visit will further strengthen Vanuatu's commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights and dignity.
