Port Vila, Vanuatu – On Wednesday 3 April, the Hon. Minister of Justice, Youth and Community Services Job Sam Andy received a courtesy visit from the Hon. Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and other councillors of the Luganville Municipal Council. The visit was facilitated by Deputy Town Clerk Mr. Avio Robert, who led the group in their meeting with the honorable. minister.
The main discussion focused on reviewing existing agreements between the National Sports Authority and the Luganville Municipal Council regarding the use of sports facilities. The Luganville Municipal Council expressed interest in working with the government, through the Sports Authority, to ensure that these facilities are properly maintained, reported on, and upgraded.
One of the key topics raised was the revitalization of facilities, such as the Chapui Stadium, to enhance the effectiveness of various sports federations and games in the northern part of the country. The Minister showed strong support for this initiative and reaffirmed his commitment to working with the Luganville Municipal Council to revisit past agreements and explore new opportunities in line with the current government’s policies on sports and youth.
The Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration with local authorities to maximize the use of existing facilities in addressing the social issues affecting many youths in the community. He highlighted that this cooperation is essential to ensuring the betterment of local communities and the empowerment of the youth sector.
The Hon.
