As the flag flapped in the island breeze, President Merhimba Dangdang made a historic announcement: he called on all chief’s present to support renaming the local school near Malon’s gravesite to the Kalontas Malon Memorial School a lasting tribute to the man whose design gave the young nation its symbol of pride and unity.

The commemorations didn’t end there continuing the journey, President of Malvatumauri and his delegation visited the home village of another revered leader the late chief Noel Marisasua, former President of the Malvatumauri. There, they reflected on his contributions and offered traditional respects to honor his memory.

Speaking to the people of Maro Village and Silimaro Village, President Ravun Merhimba Dangdang delivered a rousing message to the youth:
“Dream boldly and carry forward the legacies of Kalontas Malon and Noel Marisasua.”

He emphasized that Vanuatu’s future lies in the hands of educated, culturally proud, and united young leaders.
