TANNA, TAFEA PROVINCE — The 2025 Public Service Day was officially closed by the Right Honourable Prime Minister and Minister responsible for the Public Service Commission (PSC), Hon. Jotham Napat, at a ceremony that marked the end of five days of national celebration in Lenakel Tanna.

In his closing remarks, the Prime Minister described this year’s Public Service Day as “the biggest and most successful ever organized,” coinciding with the country’s 45th Independence Anniversary and the 5th National Arts and Culture Festival all proudly hosted on Tanna Island, Tafea Province.

He commended the exceptional leadership and hard work demonstrated by all government ministries, departments, and agencies that came together to make the event a success. "I want to thank all PSC staff across the ministries for their unwavering commitment in good and difficult times," he said. "Their tireless service backed by the sacrifices of their families continues to uphold the government's mission to deliver essential services to our people nationwide."

While acknowledging the realities of public scrutiny, the Prime Minister emphasized that public service is not without its challenges. "It’s normal to face criticism we are only human and we make mistakes. But to those who speak negatively of government work, I invite you to join the public service and see firsthand the challenges we face every day."

The Prime Minister extended his sincere gratitude to the Tafea Provincial Government Council and the Nikolatan Council of Chiefs for welcoming and supporting the hosting of this year’s events. He also acknowledged the event sponsors for their generous contributions both financial and in-kind stating, "Your support has not gone unnoticed. We are deeply grateful and look forward to working with you in future PSC Day events."

To conclude, the Prime Minister announced in principle that the 2026 Public Service Day will be hosted by Torba Province, pending formal endorsement by the Council of Ministers (COM). He explained that this will follow the submission and review of the final report on the Tafea PSC Day outcomes.
