Port Vila, Vanuatu – 26 August 2025 – The Minister of Justice, Youth and Community Services, Hon. Job Sam Andy, together with his Director General, Mr. Arthur Faerua, paid a courtesy visit to the (Reach Family Centre), a flagship project of World Vision Vanuatu, one of the country’s longest-serving and trusted Non-Government Organizations.
The visit formed part of the Centre’s week of open engagement with stakeholders and partners. It also coincided with a special moment, as the Minister and the New Zealand High Commissioner were welcomed to see firsthand the life-changing work the Centre continues to deliver.
The Minister’s visit reflects government’s commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with NGOs and civil society, because together we are helping to build safer, healthier families across Vanuatu.
Established in 2017, the Reach Family Centre began as a counselling and rehabilitation initiative for detainees and their families. Since then, it has expanded into a nationwide program, reaching communities across Vanuatu with counselling, family support, and education programs.
In 2021, the Ministry of Justice, Youth and Community Services partnered with World Vision to roll out the (Men Be the Change Program), first in correctional centres and then into broader communities. The program challenges harmful behaviours, promotes respect, and equips men to become positive role models in their families and society.
Today, the Reach Family Centre is one of the Ministry’s key service providers addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Its holistic approach combines counselling services, family and community engagement, and awareness programs designed to break cycles of violence and strengthen household resilience.
Hon. Andy praised the Centre’s work and reiterated government’s ongoing support:
“What I have seen today is not just a program, but a movement of hope and healing for families in Vanuatu. Government is committed to walking alongside World Vision and its partners to ensure our people live in safer homes and stronger communities.”
The courtesy call was more than just a formal visit—it was a powerful reminder of the partnerships driving change and the shared vision of creating a Vanuatu where every family can thrive in peace, safety, and dignity.
