Port Vila, Vanuatu – August 12, 2025 – The Ministry of Justice Youth and Community Services (MJYCS), in collaboration with the Vanuatu National Youth Authority (NYA) and the Vanuatu Sports Authority, commemorated International Youth Day 2025 under the theme: “Young Workers Organizing Democracy, Justice and a Better Future.”
On this important day, Hon. Job Sam Andy, Minister of Youth, Justice and Community Services, extended heartfelt greetings to the vibrant and resilient youth of Vanuatu. He emphasized that International Youth Day is not only a celebration but a call to action, urging young people to actively participate in shaping inclusive societies and sustainable futures.
Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s teachings on courage, self-belief, and service, Minister Andy highlighted the role of youth as architects of nation-building. He also reflected on the wisdom of 1 Timothy 4:12:
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
The Ministry and the NYA continue to empower youth through programs that:
- Develop and implement national youth policies and strategies
- Facilitate youth participation in governance and decision-making
- Support youth organizations and community-based initiatives
- Advocate for youth rights and inclusion at local, regional, and international levels
- Provide leadership training, mentorship, and capacity-building programs
Minister Andy reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to expanding education, employment, and training opportunities, supporting youth-led justice and equity initiatives, strengthening legal protections for young people, and promoting sports and recreation as tools for unity and national pride.
“Democracy is not inherited—it is built. Justice is not given—it is demanded. And the future is not promised—it is created,” Minister Andy stated. “To the youth of Vanuatu: your energy, your ideas, and your courage are the heartbeat of our nation. Organize, advocate, and lead. The future is yours to shape.”
