    Appointment of New Director General for the Ministry of Youth, Justice and Community Services

    Port Vila, Vanuatu – 25 August 2025 – The Public Service Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Cherol Ala Ianna as the new Director General of the Ministry of Justice, Youth and Community Services (MJYCS), effective immediately.

    Mrs. Ala brings with her more than two decades of distinguished service in the public sector, with extensive expertise in national policy development, institutional reform, and intergovernmental coordination. Her proven leadership includes previous appointments as Director General in both the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where she played a pivotal role in advancing key government reforms and strengthening public institutions.

    In congratulating Mrs. Ala, PSC Chairman Martin Mahe highlighted her appointment as a milestone for the Ministry, particularly in driving forward youth-focused initiatives such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which equip young Ni-Vanuatu with the skills and confidence to actively contribute to the nation’s economic and social development.

    Upon her appointment, Mrs. Ala expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the trust placed in her leadership:
    “It is a privilege to serve the people of Vanuatu in this important role. I look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that our youth, justice, and community services create lasting opportunities and positive change for our citizens.”

    The Public Service Commission warmly welcomes Mrs. Ala to her new role and looks forward to her leadership in shaping a stronger and brighter future for Vanuatu’s justice, youth, and communities.
