MSG Secretariat Leads Regional Dialogue on Climate and Youth Empowerment

Port Vila, Vanuatu, 22-09-2025: The Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat successfully hosted a series of Key Stakeholder Consultation Meetings and a Project Concept Note Design Workshop from 15th to 19th September 2025 at its headquarters in Port Vila.

The consultations formed part of the MSG Secretariat’s Project Coordination and Management Unit (PCMU) Project, which seeks to develop Project Concept Notes to be further discussed with potential development partners. These concept notes focus on climate change and youth empowerment, issues that MSG Leaders highlighted as urgent priorities during their June 2025 meeting in Suva Fiji.

The program included stakeholder meetings, baseline data collection, and a concept design workshop that identified priority challenges and opportunities through the lenses of climate risk and youth development.

The Ministry of Youth, Justice and Community Services was represented by Director General Cherol Ala and Executive Officer Melvin Boesel, alongside senior officials from the Department of Youth and Sports Development, who actively contributed to the discussions at last week meeting.

The MSG Secretariat extends its appreciation to the Government of Vanuatu and all participating stakeholders for their valuable input and commitment to advancing regional cooperation on pressing development issues.
