Director General Calls for Greater Public Engagement and Visibility of MYJCS Services

The Director General of the Ministry of Youth, Justice and Community Services (MYJCS), Ms Cherol Alana Ala, has emphasized the need for increased public visibility and engagement across all agencies under the ministry.

Addressing correctional officers, Ms Ala stated that communities expect to see, understand, and appreciate the full range of services delivered by the ministry. While acknowledging the significant work already undertaken by agencies, she noted that much of this work remains unknown to the public and must be communicated more effectively.

The Director General highlighted the importance of utilizing various media platforms to inform the public about the ministry’s services, stressing that transparency and effective communication are essential in building public trust and confidence.

“We have achieved much, yet only a limited number of people are aware of our services. It is therefore necessary to adopt a more proactive approach by engaging with the public and communicating our work through appropriate media channels,” Ms Ala said.

She further called on all agencies under her leadership to give back to communities, emphasizing the responsibility to contribute positively to society, particularly as the government continues to support the ministry.

Ms Ala also underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration, encouraging cooperation between government ministries and other key institutions to jointly implement projects that enhance service delivery and better serve communities nationwide.

As the new year begins, the Director General urged all agencies to fast-track the implementation of ministry services under her leadership and that of the responsible minister. She reaffirmed the ministry’s open-door policy, encouraging staff and stakeholders to engage openly, share ideas, and participate in constructive dialogue for the benefit of the government and the country.
