In recognition of the strength, sacrifices, and achievements of women, staff of the Corporate Services Unit (CSU) at the Vanuatu Ministry of Justice and Community Services gathered last week to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 under the inspiring theme “Give to Gain.” The occasion served as a moment to honour the powerful role women play in nurturing families, shaping communities, and contributing to the growth of the nation.

The gathering was hosted by the Director General of the Ministry, Cherol Ala Ianna, who invited CSU staff to pause from their busy schedules and reflect on the importance of the day while celebrating the achievements and contributions of women within the Ministry and the wider community.

In her remarks, the Director General encouraged staff to embrace the message behind the theme “Give to Gain,” noting that women have long demonstrated this principle through their dedication to family, work, and community life.

“What you have demonstrated throughout your entire life is giving to gain,” she said. “This is clearly seen in how you raise your children, how you teach them values and good behaviour, and how you continue to share love and care with those around you.”

Mrs. Ianna further emphasized that every woman carries unique talents and gifts given by God, which play an important role in building stronger families and communities. She also highlighted the importance of supporting and uplifting women and young girls with special needs, ensuring that the spirit of giving and empowerment reaches everyone.

The gathering also recognised the global milestone of 115 years of celebrating women’s achievements and progress, acknowledging the continued efforts worldwide to promote equality, empowerment, and opportunities for women.

The Corporate Services Unit concluded the gathering in a spirit of unity, appreciation, and celebration, proudly joining the global community in honouring the invaluable contributions women make every day.
