
Port Vila, 23 March 2026: Vanuatu’s justice sector enters a new chapter with the appointment of Simcha Blessing Boe as Public Prosecutor, bringing with him years of proven legal expertise, a strong track record in tackling complex criminal cases, and a deep commitment to upholding the rule of law across the nation.
Mr. Boe’s appointment took effect on 23 March 2026, following a recommendation by the Judicial Service Commission and formal endorsement by the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency Nikenike Vurobaravu.
Prior to his substantive appointment, Mr. Boe served as Acting Public Prosecutor from 4 August 2024, stepping into the role after the departure of his predecessor, Mr. Josaia Naigulevu. During this period, he demonstrated strong leadership and ensured continuity in the operations of the Office of the Public Prosecutor.
A proud son of Maewo Island, Mr. Boe is widely respected within Vanuatu’s legal fraternity for his extensive experience in criminal law and public prosecution. His career includes serving as an Assistant Public Prosecutor and as a key member of the Integrity and Commercial Crime Unit (ICCU), where he handled complex financial crime cases, including money laundering and corruption.
His expertise also extends to international criminal cooperation, contributing to mutual legal assistance and extradition matters, and strengthening Vanuatu’s collaboration with regional and global partners.
Throughout his career, Mr. Boe has appeared as a State Prosecutor across all levels of the court system, including the Magistrates’ Court, the Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeal. He has represented the Office of the Public Prosecutor in numerous significant proceedings, earning a reputation for professionalism, diligence, and integrity.
Mr. Boe holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the South Pacific and a Master of Laws in Corporate, Commercial, and Taxation Law from the University of Sydney, Australia. He also completed his Professional Diploma in Legal Practice (PDLP), qualifying him to practice law. Notably, he is only the third Ni-Vanuatu lawyer to be appointed as Public Prosecutor since the establishment of the office in 2003.
His appointment reflects his long-standing dedication to justice and positions him as a key leader in further strengthening the administration of justice in Vanuatu. His leadership is expected to enhance the effectiveness, accountability, and integrity of the prosecution service.
